Playing along with backing tracks is another way to improve your sense of rhythm. Before playing the flute feel the rhythm. Bring it into your body. Once the body is moving to the rhythm begin to play along being sure that when you play a note it is played on the beat of the rhythm.

You may find it easier to begin by playing to drum rhythms. This is a good place to start by Barry Grueter on YouTube, titled Native Drum Backing Tracks.

There are numerous backing tracks on youtube.com. To get started, check out the backing tracks on Flutopedia. There are a few videos by Clint Goss and some tracks in A minor that you can play to.
